Youth On Root Summit-190.jpg

Join us for an empowering one-day event as Mockingbird Incubator collaborates with Youth on Root, the UCI C.L.I.M.A.T.E. Justice Initiative, and the Bill Anderson Fund to present a day of training on Advocacy and Lobbying for youth climate justice organizers. This teach-in will educate youth, activists, and organizations on the nuances of advocacy and lobbying, as well as provide them with the essential tools to engage in effective advocacy and lobbying efforts, particularly in the realm of climate policy and environmental justice.

Why Attend?
This event will teach students, youth climate activists, organizers, and other nonprofits looking to train environmental activists the difference between advocacy and lobbying, how to choose which path is appropriate for their cause, and how to advocate and/or lobby for meaningful change effectively. This is especially important in the environmental justice field because of the intersectional nature of climate change and its impact on historically marginalized communities and disenfranchised groups.

This is an in-person event. Please ensure you can attend before reserving your spot.

About the Event Organizers:
Mockingbird Incubator's mission is to support startup nonprofits, grassroots organizers, and activists to start and run sustainable, intersectional, and trauma-informed organizations that build communities and movements. We do this through creating trainings and fiscal sponsorship services that remove the gatekeeping around 501c3 work to create safe spaces for creative and collaborative movement-building.
Youth on Root’s mission is to center low-income youth and youth of color as change agents in their communities by providing tools for learning from each other and opportunities to use their unique power to promote environmental justice.
The mission of the Bill Anderson Fund is to empower the diverse next generation of professionals, academics, and researchers as leaders who are well-equipped to facilitate meaningful social change on complex issues of inequity through disaster risk reduction and environmental justice.
The UCI CLIMATE Justice Initiative aims to advance a Cultural, Learning, and Institutional Model to Accelerate Transformations for Environmental Justice.
