My name is Pragya, and I use she/her pronouns. Originally from Nepal, I've called the vibrant community of San Pablo, California, home for the past six years. I humbly acknowledge that this land rightfully belongs to the Ohlone people, who have been its stewards for generations. Currently pursuing Statistics with a concentration in Data Science at CSUEB, I've long been driven by a passion for justice, rooted in my childhood awareness of inequality and discrimination. Engaging in various clubs and organizations allowed me to amplify my voice and contribute to building a more equitable world. My journey into understanding environmental justice began during my involvement with the Youth Red Cross Society in Nepal. Witnessing firsthand the unequal distribution of resources and political power, I developed a strong commitment to addressing these issues. Through community-driven initiatives, I gained insight into the interconnectedness between environmental health and social justice. As I progress in my academic and professional journey, I'm excited to leverage my data analysis skills to illuminate environmental disparities and effect meaningful change. Youth on Root offers a pivotal opportunity for me to turn these aspirations into tangible action.
